Abstract
Biological samples containing Cr(III) were wet-ashed and oxidized to Cr(VI) with a mixture of nitric, sulfuric, and perchloric acids. The oxidized chromium was extracted into 10% tributyl phosphate in methyl isobutyl ketone at 4°C. The ketone extract was aspirated into a fuel-rich air-acetylene flame and the absorption at 357.9 nm obtained. The sensitivity was 0.016 μg/ml of chromium.
