Abstract

A new technique for the bidimensional thin-layer chromatography of amino acids in blood and urine is described. It is especially suited to the screening of amino acid metabolic defects in the newborn, inasmuch as it requires only 10 μ1 of untreated urine and 2 drops of blood. The Chromatographie system is characterized by rapid development, great sensitivity of the spots to ninhydrin and clear separation of 28 amino acids.
