Abstract
M any methods have been used to determine the vertical dimension of occlusion for complete denture patients. Each method has its limitations if pre-extraction measurements are excluded because concrete landmarks of reference are altered or lost following the removal of all teeth, The dentist must use his knowledge of gross anatomy and physiology to help him select the vertical relation at which he will develop the occlusal scheme for a specific edentulous patient. The purposes of this article are: ( 1) to describe a roentgenographic technique of establishing the vertical dimension of occlusion, and (2) to report the relativre accuracy of this method.
