Abstract

The great advances in wireless communication networks have led to high desire for a strong digital data transmission. However, illegal data access has become more easy and prevalent in wireless networks. In order to protect valuable data from undesirable readers, data encryption has become a critical issue. However, encryption techniques do not take into account wireless network characteristics such as noise and burst error. In this paper, a robust and secure approach for partial image encryption is proposed, that is utilized sub-band selection from discrete wavelet transform in order to meet the requirements of the robust image transmission, and the two chaotic logistic maps, less computationally intensive and high security is used to meet the requirements of the secure image transmission. Further, the proposed scheme is robustified by channel coding to deal with burst error included in wireless. The experimental results of the proposed scheme provide an efficient and secure way for real-time image encryption and transmission over wireless networks.
