Abstract

The demand of petroleum fuel is growing day by day which causes risk and a major problem for the whole world, because the layer of petroleum fuel gradually depleted. The best possible and most effective alternative petroleum fuels are biodiesel. In present review a comparative analysis of engine performance parameters are shown by using additives with biodiesel-diesel blend in C.I. engine and given the comparison study for emission gases. Compare with diesel, biodiesels are having low heating value, more density, more fuel consumption and more amount of nitrogen oxide. To overcome these disadvantages additives are mixed in the biodiesel blend which help to achieve an international standards of fuel. For improving the quality of fuel different types additives mix with the biodiesel, such as metal based, oxygenated, cetane number increasing additives and antioxidant additives. In this present survey the impact of additives on e fuel are described. The engine performances like brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperature are improved by using additives with the biodiesel blend. The amount of CO, unburned HC and smoke emissions are decreased by using biodiesel where as the rate of NOx emissions are increased which cause a risk to the environment. But from this survey it is found out that by using additives with biodiesel-diesel blend the NOx emissions decrease.
