Abstract

Modern medical science uses the latest technologies to produce feasible solutions. The exploration treats various diseases that can result in morbidity. One such disease is Cancer; it is characterized by the uncontrolled division of abnormal cells. A biopsy is performed for the diagnosis of cancer. Earlier, biopsies were performed on the tumor cells by using a hand-held device. Various types of biopsy systems are discussed in this paper. At present, core needle biopsy and vacuum-assisted biopsy are commonly used. These devices have spring systems or multiple electric motors installed in it to achieve rotary and linear motion (two degrees of freedom). These multiple motors can be replaced by a single motor to achieve the desired motion. As a result, the weight and size of the motor can be reduced. A rotary linear motor can be used to obtain two degrees of freedom. A comparative analysis of various rotatory linear motors has been discussed based on the parameters required to design the motor for biopsy.
