Abstract

The development in technology has resulted in development of multifunctional, small, lower priced, lower power consuming and multifunctional sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The factors considered in design of the nodes are scalability, energy consumption, transmission range, environment etc. These nodes carry out activities like sensing, processing, information transmission and communication. The most of battery consumption is done by transmission of signals during communication process. So, saving energy is a foremost factor in the WSN. The routing scheme is extremely important for appropriate delivery of packets. This paper presents a review on some energy efficient routing protocols which are considering security measures as well, to improve security of nodes in WSN and targets to design approaches that needs less energy consumption during communication.
