Abstract

I accepted Mr Wilson's invitation to speak on the results of the Royal Society Scientific Information Conference gladly because the conference seems to me to have had important results. In reviewing those results I want to try and indicate both what was achieved as well as what remains to be done and what new problems have risen to the surface. I also want to tell you of some of the things we are doing in the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (D.S.I.R.) and to invite your comments on them. To that I must add a caution that this is not an official paper. What it contains are my personal views.
