Abstract
(Abstracted from J Clin Anesth, 33:179–184, 2016) In patients with obstructive coronary artery disease, therapy using percutaneous coronary intervention with bare-metal stent and drug-eluting stent placement has been found to be very effective despite challenges to the perioperative management of these patients. Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), specifically a P2Y12 receptor inhibitor (clopidogrel, ticagrelor, prasugrel, orticlopidine) in addition to aspirin, is used to prevent coronary artery in-stent thrombosis, caused by complete and premature discontinuation of DAPT.
