Abstract

The ultra-wideband (UWB) radar is widely used in many radar applications such as foliage-penetrating radar and ground-penetrating radar. This is because the UWB radar has many advantages to detect concealed objects. The antenna and source may be the most important components in the UWB radar system. The antenna in a UWB system in many applications is desired to be small and lightweight. The UWB antenna may be excited by an impulse generator, which can be made at a relatively low cost and generate pulses with wide bandwidth. Thus, this paper is focused on the structures of a small antenna and an impulse generator.
