Abstract

This paper introduces dispersion compensation principles of DCF and FBG, and compares their advantages and disadvantages. It proposed to join FBG in the end in traditional optical fiber transmission system. It designs a transmission system with capacity of 40 Gbit/s by using Optisystem software and it studies three dispersion compensation schemes. If only using FBG dispersion compensation, when the optical signal transmission is 400 km, its value Q is 3.745 and its BER is 7.41942*10-5. If using DCF and combination of static and dynamic dispersion compensation, their maximum transmission distance are 720km and 864km. To compare their values Q and BER, the combination of static and dynamic compensation scheme improves the optical transmission performance and increases optical transmission distance.
