Abstract

Objective To investigate the side effect of absorbable hemostatic gauze in dacryocystorhinostomy.Methods 15 patients (15 eyes) with chronic dacryocystitis had undergone dacryocystorhinostomy,in which 4 cases(4 eyes) used absorbable hemostatic gauze randomly in operation.Results 4 cases used absorbable hemostatic gauze,satisfactory hemostasis was obtained in operation,but the lacrima tractus obstructed again in 9-14 days after operation.The lacrimal passages of the other cases were unobstructed.Conclusion The using of absorbable hemostatic gauze in dacryocystorhinostomy may induce secondary nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
