Abstract
In this paper we make a study of related articles about the Brazilian psychiatric reform published in the Saúde em Debate Magazine from february/1985 to june/1995. 17 texts were examined in two blocks: 1989-1991 and 1992-1994, according to their main axis: assistance model, citizenship and paw. It was observed that this theme is relatively recent in the magazine, in consonance with the history of the psychiatric reform process. The heterogeneity of the reform proposes, that is comprehensible due the Brazilian regional diversity and several interests at take, express it in the publications. The analyzed texts make theoretical reflections from concrete experiences guided to the reform process. KEY WORDS: Nursing; Psychiatry; Mental Health, Health Policy.

Uma leitura atenta desse material demonstrou que somente a partir de 1992 o tema da reforma psiquiátrica aparece como objeto de artigos de reflexão teórica nos números regulares, pois anteriormente o que existe são textos que, ou pertencem a um número especial, ou não constituem artigos daquela natureza. Optamos por analisar os textos publicados dividindo-os em dois blocos: o primeiro, referente aos anos de 1989-1991 e o segundo, aos anos de 19921994. Optamos pela análise individual de cada texto. Já os artigos do segundo bloco foram agrupados conforme sua temática principal, qual seja: modelo assistencial, cidadania e legislação
