Abstract

The reaction of Mn(ClO4)2·6H2O with 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(diphenylphosphinyl)benzene (L) in DMF affords one-dimensional coordination polymer (CP), [MnL(DMF)2](ClO4)2·DMF, in 87% yield. The cationic chains of the CP are assembled from alternating Mn(II) ions and ligand molecules; each metal ion has a octahedral MnO6 environment composed of four oxygen atoms from two adjacent ligands and two DMF oxygen atoms. At the temperatures below 200 K, this CP demonstrates a red phosphorescence with λemmax~660 nm and lifetimes of 1.5–4.5 ms. The EPR study reveals the high-spin state of the Mn(II) ions and the absence of exchange interactions between them.
