Abstract

This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the time domain analysis of the interaction of an electromagnetic field with a lossy multiconductor line. Inclusion of loss in interaction problems leads to convolution integrals whose computation needs heavy computer times. The algorithm utilized in this paper is based on a recursive formulation for the evaluation of the convolution integrals allowed by the exponential form of the kernel. The solution of the transient equations is achieved by means of the finite element method. New expressions for the transient parameters associated to the influence of the lossy ground on the coupling analysis are also presented.
