Abstract
AbstractAn audit of the use of blood glucose reflectance meters by staff working in 39 general practices. Questions focused on training in the use of meters; health, safety and legal implications of producing results by meters; and whether practices were employing internal or external quality assessments to monitor the results obtained.Results highlighted varied sources of training. Only a minority of practices had actively addressed health, safety and legal implications in the use of meters. The survey revealed that three practices employed internal quality control. No practices were using external quality assessments.
