Abstract

The use of glucose reflectance meters in the screening of whole blood glucose concentrations in the adult has been advocated because of their convenience and reliability) Rapid measurement of blood gllicose concentration is also essential fo/ good care in the newborn infant. 2 Although the use of this instrumentation would be beneficial theoretically, the accUracy and reliability of various glucose reflectance meters have not been studied during the newborn period. The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy a n d reliability of some of the currently available glucose reflectance meters in the neonatal intensive care setting.
