Abstract

This paper presents a new quasi-steady-state model of a DC transmission system which can take account of unsymmetrical commutating voltages. In conjunction with a transient stability program it can be used to compute the transient stability of an interconnected AC-DC system under an unsymmetrical AC fault. An illustrative example shows that the model proposed gives an effective compromise between computing time and accuracy.
