Abstract

The author relates his experiences as a newly hired psychology instructor in the Rocky Mountam area during the Depression. He began his career as the first Ph.D. in psychology at what is now Idaho State University at Pocatello, and after that he was one of three psychologists at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Although the main thrust was classroom teaching, there was also opportunity for research and applied psychology, including student counseling and clinical services.
