Abstract
Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication is used to transmit data between vehicles to prevent chain of accidents. Chain of accident refers to serial collision of vehicles one behind another, which happens in a busy traffic. This paper proposes an effective technique for V2V communication to deal with chain of accidents. A vehicle can communicate with its rear vehicle by a wireless transmitter and receiver system. The same procedure can be used in each vehicle. So, we can create a chain of vehicles for intercommunication among them. Parameters related to the vehicle such as speed, steering, brake, indicator are fed to the microcontroller of this system. A critical condition arising due to the front vehicle is reported or transmitted to rear vehicle through this system. Critical condition can be: collision of a front vehicle due to fog, direction change by a front vehicle without indicator. This message transmission along with automatic braking system (or speed control system) can avoid the danger of chain of accidents. Automatic braking system (ABS) is used to control the speed of vehicle. The current system is mostly sensor-based, and corrective actions are taken place on the basis of data from sensors. The problem arises when sensor does not work in critical conditions like dust or mud deposited over its surface, high-temperature condition, etc. Another disadvantage of sensor-based system is they cover a very short range of distance, so an affected vehicle may not get sufficient response time to take corrective actions. But, our technique is mainly communication-based, which provides a larger range of distance compared to sensor-based system. Hence, the system provides more response time to avoid accidents. Also, the rear vehicle gets message for the future estimated accident from front vehicle. Another aspect is when a vehicle needs to move toward left or right direction, it should forward this respective data to the rear vehicle. This technique will be helpful to avoid serial collision of vehicles, because knowing the forward vehicle movement the rear vehicle can slow down their speed in order to avoid accident.
