Abstract

Various Internet of Things (IoT) services, and technologies for their deployment, have been widely discussed by Standards Development Organizations (SDOs). In some SDOs, the use cases of IoT services have been collected and analyzed to clarify technical requirements. This paper summarizes the trends of IoT services and the activities of SDOs, with a special focus on ISO/IEC JTC1/SC41. The requirements according to use case analysis are also clarified. Then, a new platform is proposed, referred to as the “IoT Data Exchange Platform (IoT DEP)”, as a work item for standardization. This platform complies with these requirements and provides efficient information transfer over the Internet infrastructure. In addition, this paper presents detailed block diagrams of the IoT DEP and its operations.
