Abstract

Agricultural Meteorology in the U. S. Weather Bureau from 1940 to date is discussed. Technical requirements for a well-rounded agricultural program in the Bureau are developed. This program envisions service on state level through cooperation with local Extension Service personnel, research and observations in collaboration with Experiment Stations and expanded forecast program with thrice weekly issuance of five-day forecasts, agro-climatic research using the facilities of the National Weather Records Center, development of instruments for measuring agro-meteorological parameters and the evaluation of effectiveness of weather control measures.
