Abstract
A device is described to measure spatial intensity distributions of images of the soft X-ray region by means of a proportional counter which has positional sensitivity capability in one dimension. Collection, reduction and storing of the data are controlled by a desktop computer with specially written software to provide data transfer from a multichannel analyzer. The measuring unit is used in a long beam X-ray testing facility to study the features of rocket and satellite borne instrumentation under simulated outer space conditions in the laboratory.
