Abstract

An expansion of the calculation of projected area and solid angle is developed which can take into account the luminous sides of a luminaire. This expansion is integrated into an existing algorithm for the calculation of visual comfort probability (VCP) at a large number of viewer positions. The extension is done in such a way that it affects only the development (not the use) of the Finite Fourier Series used in the algorithm, and thus has very little effect on the overall computation time. The result is an algorithm that allows for the effects of luminous sides of a luminaire.
