Summary
Cooperative Extension educational programs are highly valued for their important impact on Agriculture and Natural Resources in counties. These programs exist on less 10% of Americas Indian Reservations. There are 48 million acres of rangelands, forests and watersheds on American Indian reservations. Working on these lands requires exceptional sensitivity to and competence in cultural, historical, and government-to-government relations; human subjects reviews; and more. Cooperative Extension personnel in the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program (FRTEP) are well versed in the cultural, historical, and legal foundations of land management education. To effectively manage rangelands in Indian country, funding the ubiquitous presence of Cooperative Extension is paramount, similar to county-based Cooperative Extension
