Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficiency of clear aligners in treating bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion adults. Methods Using a retrospective self-control study, ten patients with bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion were selected in this study. All of them were extracted with four first premolar and treated with clear aligners using maximal anchorage. Cephalometric analysis was carried out, and Paired T test was used to compare the cephalometric values before and after treatment. Results There were statistically differences in measurements of SNA, SNB, the distance of U1 to NA, L1 to NB, upper and lower lips to E line, and the angle of U1-SN, U1-NA, L1-MP, L1-NB and nasal-labial angle(P<0.01). Conclusions Bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion could be effectively treated with clear aligners when first premolars are extracted if properly planned. Key words: Bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion; Clear aligners; First premolar extraction
