Abstract

The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends vision screening to detect amblyopia or amblyopia risk factors (ARFs) at least once between 3 and 5 years of age.1,2 Photoscreeners, including the Plusoptix S12C (Plusoptix, Inc), are automated tools that estimate refractive error; their use in preschool vision screening is dependent on the establishment of cutoff values for each type of refractive error, resulting in a binary pass-or-refer outcome for each metric.3
