Abstract
A distillation column control algorithm that uses the parameters of differential tray temperatures and differential pressure across sections of distillation trays was investigated. A general short cut design method was incorporated as part of the overall control scheme to detect and correct, utilizing conventional three mode (PID) control, the values of these parameters during transient operation of the distillation column.
