Abstract
The maximum work space utilization of the five-axis computer numerical control machine tools is a critical task. Cutting system length which includes spindle, tool holder and cutting tool determines the tool tip reachable work space for the five-axis machine tools. Setup parameters for the work piece mounting on the table can be chosen randomly for the post processing, which do not give the guarantee of machining the part without crossing the linear axes travel limits of the machine tools. In this research, a precise method is developed for the determination of the setup parameters of the work piece mounting on the table, which gives the guarantee of machining the complete part without over travel limits. The proposed algorithm has the capability of doing the machining of the big parts in the minimum number of the setups.
