Abstract

A practical technique is proposed for estimating the DCV only from the measurement of one compound action potential (CAP) signal and an a priori partial knowledge of the single fiber action potential (SFAP). A library of piecewise linear functions which can represent the SFAPs is established. All the functions included in this library must satisfy the basic properties of bipolarly recorded SFAPs. Estimates of the DCV are obtained for each member of this library, and the one which minimizes the error between the recorded CAP y and the reconstructed CAP z is chosen. It has been determined that the technique is robust. >
