Abstract

The new boon brought by information technology has brought its scar in the form of cybercrimes; moreover the new business environment required new regulations for its legal endorsement as more and more business communities are moving towards electronic commerce and transborder contracts. The use of computer, internet and wifi have become popular in educational institutions worldwide, however, still many institutions have not adopted or implemented any information technology policy for day to day working. This article provides a practical guide to frame an information technology policy, especially for educational institutions. Information technology policy is an important resolution to regulate the use of computers, computer resources and computer network. It helps in protecting vital information and resources and assists in curbing cyber crime.
