Abstract

Aim to increase the output power of energy harvesting system for self-powered IoT applications, a power management circuit for dual energy sources including solar and impact-type piezoelectric energy, is proposed in this study. The proposed circuit can achieve not only the maximum power point tracking of each energy sources, but also the regulation of output voltage, thus, it can power a wireless sensor of IoT without extra power sources. The control algorithm of the dual-input power management circuit is realized by digital circuits to improve the flexibility and stability of the system. Finally, a dual energy sources harvesting system from solar and micro-wind energy is designed, and the control algorithm is implemented by a FPGA. The experiment results show the maximum output power of this system is 119 mW, and its output voltage can be regulated to 3 V.
