Abstract
A machine is described for mixing powered insecticide to maize stored in bags, which avoids the problem of tipping the grain on to the ground. A 100 kg bag can be fully treated in well under 5 min compared to a minimum of 15 min using other available methods. The machine based on the cone and drum principle can be easily constructed in a developing country for the equivalent of about £150 sterling.
