Abstract
In most portable electronics equipment's, batteries are used as a source of power. Some efficient power management technique is required in order to get longer battery life. In some batteries, output voltage is not constant so an additional switching power unit is required to get a constant output voltage. Due to the power loss occurs in the storage devices, the efficiency of these converters is reduced. So here we design a positive output voltage-bucking/boosting converter, combining KY and synchronous buck converter for battery power applications. Compared to the traditional buck-boost converter, this converter possesses positive output voltage. This converter operates in continuous conduction mode inherently and it possesses the non-pulsating output current, so the current stress on the output capacitor and the output voltage ripple are reduced. Both the KY converter and the SR buck converter uses the same power switches, the circuit will be compact and the corresponding cost will be down.
