Abstract
In my 16 years of experience in innovation and cluster management in a public innovation agency, I have completely changed my perspective on innovation, change, and resistance based on an education in person-centered counseling. In this chapter, I share the learnings from both. Simply put, I have developed a person-centered way of dealing with process challenges, leading creative teams, and managing collaboration in organizational and regional innovation systems. This chapter focuses on a new model for the innovation process based on Rogers’ concept of creativity and links it to innovation. Furthermore, a short view on innovation climate and collaboration culture will be given and I am going to share my personal experience on how to deal with change and resistance as a person-centered rule breaker.
