Abstract
This paper asserts the negative effects and future of copyright and patent subject matter overgrowth. It provides a visual metaphor for separating out copyright and patent coverage by delineating subject matter into separate fields. It discusses where copyright and patent have overgrown in the past and how we should treat the two areas of intellectual property as distinct.
