Abstract
Semi-classical periodic-orbit theory is applied to classically chaotic systems of interacting identical particles yielding a particle-number expansion of the periodic-orbit sum. Truncating the expansion we obtain effective one- and two-body problems. The corresponding few-body orbits are relevant as some have short periods and small Lyapunov exponents.
