Abstract
This paper describes the implementation objectives, methods, results and problems behind an experiment to control a one megawatt pool reactor with a digital microcomputer. The Direct Digital Controller (DDC) was built to investigate the uses and advantages of microcomputer systems in process control applications. New features include: operator oriented displays, dynamic feedforward control for improved transient performance, system safety checks, online self-diagnostics and maintenance aids.
