Abstract

AbstractVehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are a nascent area of research that has gained considerable attention in recent years due to their role in the design of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). NS-3 (Network Simulator 3) is one of the most widely used discrete event simulators for the VANET Simulation. Trace files, which capture events occurring in these networks, can be used to study the performance. This article introduces a new tool for automating the analysis of trace files in VANETs using the concept of a multi-agents system. This tool allows to calculate the following performance metrics: throughput, packet delivery rate, loss of packets, packets sent and packets received in a very short time for all different file sizes. In addition, it facilitates and speeds up the entire task of analyzing a high number of network simulations along with offering the possibility of storing all the trace files and all the measurements generated.KeywordsVANETTrace fileMulti-agents systemNS-3
