Abstract

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a worldwide disease with a total incidence of all ages combined of 2.5 cases per 100,000 people per year. It is one of the most common types of leukemia among adults and it is more common in men than women [1–3]. Excessive accumulation of immature nonlymphatic bone marrow precursor cells in the marrow, peripheral blood, or other tissues is the hallmark feature of AML [4].
