Abstract

Favored in the aerospace engineering field, the mechanical properties of fibrous porous ceramics will be influenced by its sintering process, which mainly affects the interfiber connections. A stochastic FE beam model is used to simulate the microstructure of the ceramics, and two interfiber connection models are introduced into the model based on models obtained from the solid-state surface diffusion dynamic simulation: the tetra-frame and the sintered beam connection. Two types of sections for the sintered beam are discussed: shapeless and rectangular. The applicability of the two connection models is determined by error analysis. The material strength and modulus also scale linearly with the connection geometry and sintering degree in the first stage of sintering. The applicability of the two connection models is determined by corresponding error analysis. This work clarifies the relationship between the material mechanical properties and the sintering technique, which can be used to guide the preparation process.
