Abstract
This paper provides a novel single carrier frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) method for time-varying underwater acoustic (UWA) communications. In the proposed method, overlapping and saving (OS) and frequency-domain oversampling (FDO) are used to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance. Because our proposed method is applied to CP-free systems, compared with traditional CP systems, the spectral efficiency is also improved. At the same time, IPNLMS algorithm is used to perform decision-directed channel estimation. The proposed method uses iterative structure to further enhance the performance by using the information of the previous iteration. Simulation result shows that the BER performance of this method is better than that of the traditional frequency domain equalization method.
