Abstract

This paper proposes a novel preventive frequency stability constrained optimal power flow analysis in a power system model with a wind farm. As for the frequency stability analysis, the loss of the total wind power output is simulated considering the most severe wind output fluctuation scenario. Primary frequency response of the system after the wind power output loss is investigated by time-domain simulation approach. As the frequency stability constraint, the system frequency deviation after the wind output variation is constrained within a permissible range. In IEEE 39-bus system, the relationships between the capacities of the wind farm and the frequency deviations are analyzed. The influence of the frequency stability constraint on generator scheduling results is discussed.
