Abstract
In this paper, a novel power/ground plane structure by etching with complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) for wideband simultaneous switching noise (SSN) suppression is proposed. Compared with the typical mushroom-type electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) or coplanar EBG, the proposed power/ground pair is very simple in physical structure, of which the CSRRs are partially etched on the power plane. From the full wave electromagnetic simulation results, a wideband SSN suppression from 190MHz to over 20GHz is achieved with a suppression level of −40dB. The proposed structure can also keep the main part of the power plane continuous for decreasing the influence towards signal integrity (SI).
