Abstract

An archive based multi-objective genetic algorithm is proposed for the QoS based multicast routing and wavelength allocation problem (MRWA) is proposed. To not lose promising candidates and improve the algorithm efficiency, an external archive is introduced and used to preserve the promising candidates and form the next generation population. To increase the population diversity, a Pareto local search process is used to make a further exploitation for the new offspring generated by the mutation process. The selection mechanism is redesigned to intensify the exploration of promising areas. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on a set of different scale test problems and compared with some excellent related algorithms. The experimental results reveal very encouraging results in terms of the solution quality.
