Abstract

Group multicast is a generalized multicast pattern important to future high-bandwidth collaborative applications. In this paper, we investigate group multicast routing and wavelength assignment (GMC-RWA) problem in WDM networks. We state GMC-RWA problem as in-group optical approach and multicasting problem, and give its mathematic formulation. Two heuristics based on traffic source grooming are proposed with bounded costs and polynomial-time complexities. Simulations on various network topologies show the efficiency of the heuristics.
