Abstract

This research paper focuses especially on the design and simulation of modified DC-DC converters with a renewable source of energy which is suitable for AC grid applications. It contains the theoretical derivations and parameter equations with design. The simulation results for modified DC-DC boost converters in open loop system, including PV with MPPT in open loop system, including PV with PI controller in closed loop system and including PV with single phase full bridge inverter in closed loop system are shown with input parameters. By keeping constant input parameters like capacitance, inductance and load to observe the changes in output voltage and current have been added with a simulation graph. This parameter and equations are well understood before designing modified DC-DC converters. We have achieved better performance for both open-loop and closed-loop system. To validate the result of a modified DC-DC converter for open loop system prototype circuit are tested with an input voltage of 6.2 V DC and the input current of 2.63A which produce an output voltage of 18.86 V DC. The MATLAB simulation and hardware results validate that the proposed converter is useful for high-voltage applications.
