Abstract
In this manuscript, a novel Circular Ring Resonator (CRR) defected ground structure has been proposed for X-band applications. The proposed structure uses inset feed modified square ring as the radiating layer, two concentric circular conductive copper rings as Defected Ground Structure (DGS) over a lossy Flame Retardant-4 substrate dielectric material. This DGS is an emerging technique which is used for enhancing the various parameters of patch antennas. The dimensions of the radiating element are 0.3λ × 0.3λ × 0.04λ at first resonating frequency and exhibits impedance bandwidth for S11 < −10 dB at 9.7 and 11.4 GHz which is useful for military radar and satellite terrestrial communications. Finite element technique based HFSS 19 has been used for simulation.
