A novel medical device for removal of intrauterine devices under direct vision

Abstract

BackgroundEvaluation of the efficacy of a novel medical device for removal of retained intrauterine devices (IUDs) under direct vision without uterine distention is reported. CasesThe five cases presented used the novel medical device to remove the IUDs. One woman had an incarcerated IUD, two women had fractured IUDs and two women had IUDs with lost threads. All IUDs were removed completely with use of direct vision without uterine distention. ConclusionsThe device is effective for the removal of incarceration IUDs under direct vision without uterine distention.
