Abstract

In this paper, two schemes of traditional linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) source are analyzed. Based on the analysis, a novel LFMCW scheme of the real-time tracking the direct digital frequency synthesis (DDS) by the phase locked loop (PLL) is proposed. The frequency of the LFMCW source's output signal ranges from 1.5 GHz to 1.8 GHz. Compared with traditional schemes, the new scheme is characterized by the following features: high linearity, high stability, immune to environmental influence, good spur suppression and low phase noise, etc.
